Set for Town Hall grounds on December 7 at 3:00pm
Residents and visitors should definitely plan to experience the 2019 Prosper Christmas Festival. The annual community event is moving back to its downtown roots, in the shadow of Town Hall. The free event, set for 3:00pm to 7:00pm on Saturday, Dec. 7, will feature a host of activities, including a Kids’ Christmas Shoppe, horse-drawn carriage rides, artisan booths, Kids Zone, Santa’s Workshop, live demonstrations, artisan booths, Community Tree Lighting, and fireworks.
The event remains free of charge due to the support of generous sponsors. Title Sponsors, for the second year, are Texas Health Neighborhood Care & Wellness Prosper and Legacy Gardens – Inspired Living with Risland Homes.
The Kids’ Christmas Shoppe, a new attraction, is sponsored by Cook Children’s Health Care System, Patron Sponsor. The Shoppe will be a place for children, ages 4-12, to buy gifts for parents and siblings, with help, in a secure environment. Proceeds will benefit the Prosper Parks and Recreation Scholarship Fund, which assists Prosper residents seeking to attend Town recreational programs. The Kids’ Christmas Shoppe will operate on a cash only basis, and not be equipped to accept credit cards. Gifts range in price from $1 to $5. Pre-registration is required. The Shoppe registration table will open at 2:45 p.m., outside Town Hall, the day of the event.
The Community Stage, sponsored by Prosper’s Finest A/C and Heat, Star Sponsor, returns to the festival this year with awesome local talent. Performances will run throughout the event and include vocalists, bands, dance teams, and choirs. Horse-drawn carriage rides will make an inaugural appearance at the festival. Complimentary rides are made possible by Ryan Blauser, Real Estate Advisor, Coldwell Banker, Star Sponsor. Rides will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the event.
Also new to the festival this year are artisan exhibits and live demonstrations. Talented artisans from the Prosper community will showcase their wares, from stocking stuffers to high-end art. One-of-a-kind gifts available for sale will include artwork, sculpture, ceramics, boutique home décor, specialty foods, and personalized items. Live demonstrations, hosted by local businesses Earthly Creations, Jonathan Root, and Prosper Blooms, will be sprinkled throughout the grounds. Come learn about gourd art, roping, juggling, and fashioning Christmas decorations.
“We’re excited this year’s event will be filled with more activities than ever before,” says Dudley Raymond, Director of Parks and Recreation. “The addition of carriage rides, Kids’ Christmas Shoppe, artisan booths, and live demos, combined with the traditional Community Tree Lighting and fireworks, ensures the event will be action packed from start to finish.”
The Prosper Rotary Club Christmas Parade, which kicks off the festival, will begin at 2:30 p.m. Parade details can be obtained by contacting the Rotary at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Festival attendees should expect road closures and limited parking in the downtown area. The Town encourages everyone to park and ride the free shuttle to and from Reynolds Middle School, 700 N. Coleman Street, or Prosper High School, 301 Eagle Drive. Shuttles begin running at 1 p.m. and will continue to run as long as needed to return attendees to their cars.
