City of Gunter is Looking for Volunteers to Serve on Boards & Commissions

The City of Gunter City Council is currently looking for a few volunteers to serve on City Boards and Commissions. They invite any interested parties to complete and submit their application for consideration. Applications should be turned in to City Hall at 105 N. 4th Street in Gunter. Description of Boards and Commissions:

Planning & Zoning: Planning and Zoning Commission is responsible for reviewing all new commercial and residential developments proposals that plan to locate within the City. The Commission reviews and makes recommendations to the City Council on subdivision plats, site plans, Zoning Ordinance amendments, Comprehensive Plan amendments, specific use permits and rezoning requests. Membership consists of five members and two alternates. All volunteers must live in the city limits or ETJ, however, the majority must live in the city limits. Members serve for two-year staggered terms. Meetings normally occur on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

Economic Development Corporation: The EDC is a Type B corporation that is committed to improving the local and regional economy by creating wealth through new job creation, business retention and expansion, increasing the tax base, and recruiting new businesses. The Corporation can also collaborate with the City to identify and fund community facilities and related projects that will enhance the quality of life in Gunter. Membership of the board consists of seven volunteers who reside within the city limits or ETJ. Members serve
for two-year staggered terms. Meetings normally occur on the first Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m.

Parks Board: The Parks and Recreation Board was created to assist Council in making recommendations pertaining to the master park plan as well as recommendations of new park facilities and recreations programs. Membership consists of five volunteers who reside in the city limits. Members serve for one-year terms. Meetings normally occur on the last Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

Development Review Board: The purpose of the Development Review Board is to maintain the quality of development in Gunter. The DRB will make recommendations relating to design standards for residential and commercial development. The DRB membership consists of a City Council member, a Planning and Zoning Commission member, and five members of the public of which one member can live in the ETJ. At this time, meetings will occur on an as needed basis.
