by Heather Reynolds

Prosper ISD is proud to announce the selection for Rock Hill High School’s Director of Bands, JP Wilson. Wilson is coming to Rock Hill after seven years at Hebron High School as the Associate Director of Bands. While at Hebron, Wilson has seen the Marching band earn back to back silver medals at the UIL 6A State Marching Contest in 2014 and 2016, and earn a bronze medal at the Bands of America Grand Nationals competition in 2015 and 2019. His concert ensembles have also been consistent UIL sweepstakes award winners. After receiving a degree in Music Education from TCU, he taught for 3 years in Mansfield ISD at Legacy High School. Wilson is an active leadership clinician and is currently the leadership director for the TCU Leadership Experience in Fort Worth every summer. He enjoys pickup games of basketball, all things related to TCU, and is a die-hard Cowboys and Mavericks fan. He lives in Frisco with his 9-year-old border collie/black lab mix, Jaxon.

Prosper ISD Director of Fine Arts, John Alstrin said, “We are so thrilled to have JP Wilson joining the Prosper ISD Fine Arts team as the Director of Bands at Rock Hill High School. Mr. Wilson’s experience at Hebron High School, a perennial name at the top of any concert or marching band contest at the state and national level for the past decade, has prepared him for his new role in Prosper. JP brings enthusiasm, passion, and a character-first approach to the Blue Hawk Band program and Rock Hill High School. I have no doubt that the Friday night football energy will remain as high and engaging as it’s ever been, and that the Prosper standards of excellence at half time, contests, and on the concert stage will all continue to flourish and grow under his leadership.”
